Cleaning, Sanitizing and Disinfecting to fight coronavirus

Should I clean for Coronavirus?

The Center for Disease and Control as well as Local and Federal Health Officials have all signaled that cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting your environment to help control the spread of the coronavirus. The Center for Disease and Control have recommended “cleaning and disinfection of homes and commercial properties” Teasdale Fenton Cleaning & Property Restoration wants to assist you in the spread of the virus by cleaning and sanitizing your property. The health and safety of you and your family is our top priority during the fight against this virus. We are here to help you understand how to contain the spread of this illness.

What is the difference between cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting?

There are a few things that are extremely important to understand during this time.

  1. Cleaning does not kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. (also known as germs)

Cleaning does not kill germs but will aid in removing them. According to the CDC the first step of any sanitation or disinfection process is cleaning. Cleaning is going to remove dust, dirt and soils all of which will hide organisms and interfere with the sanitation process. If you do not clean any surface before trying to sanitize or disinfect the process could be compromised.

  1. Sanitizing and Disinfecting is what eliminates the virus and germs

Disinfecting and sanitizing methods work by killing germs.  These processes do not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection. Sanitizers reduce bacteria on a surface by at least 99.9%. although disinfectants kill a wider range of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and mold. Sanitizers have what is called a broad spectrum kill rate. These methods work great on all surfaces like natural stone including marble, granite, and limestone; upholstery, fabrics, and drapes; and carpets and area rugs on hard non-porous surfaces like stainless steel and the components of your HVAC system. We can also fog/mist your home or business to sanitize the walls, desks, tables etc.

How do you sanitize and disinfect?

We utilize different techniques to sanitize and disinfect homes and offices.

  1. Wet sprays – Using wet sprays allows our technicians to completely coat a surface in the sanitizing or disinfecting solution. After the solution is applied wet it is allowed to dry to ensure effectiveness. ( carpet, furniture, air ducts )
  2. Surface wiping - Wiping allows our technicians to target specific areas to ensure targeted germ killing. The solution is applied wet, allowed to dwell for 10 minutes, then wiped for maximum effectiveness. ( high touch points, door handles, light switches, door frames )
  3. Fogging – Fogging allows our technicians to deliver sanitation and disinfecting solution to hard to reach places and nooks and crannies otherwise missed. ( everything in the home or office including vertical and horizontal surfaces such as walls )

Can I clean myself?

Yes, you can clean your home or office with over the counter cleaners. However, in order to reach all areas in your home or office including your HVAC system we recommend contacting a professional. Professionals can use tools like foggers and industrial sprayers to get to all areas of your home as well as industrial grade sanitizers.

Teasdale Fenton responded to a flooded lower level due to a failed sump pump within 90 minutes of being called on a Friday night. Corey and Zack efficiently cleared what needed to be moved out of the way and then removed the water. They set up fans and a large dehumidifier. The next day a team came out to check on everything and measured for dampness.

We had a pipe burst in our attic over a weekend and called Teasdale- Fenton. They sent someone out same-day to quote us on cleanup from the water leak and sent a team out the following day to remove wet insulation and leave Fans to dry everything out. Before removing the fans they moisture tested the whole area. Very pleased with their prompt and professional service.
