The customer contacted us for emergency mitigation after a water line leak or utility failure caused significant water accumulation in their finished basement. The water seeped across the carpeted living room and migrated into the mechanical room, pooling on the concrete floor around the furnace and water heater while wicking upwards into the structural wall plates and unfinished drywall base under the stairs.
We executed a comprehensive extraction, structural drying, and sanitisation protocol to prevent mold and salvage the property assets. First, we carefully moved vulnerable wooden furniture out of the wet zones and staged them safely. We deployed truck-mounted extraction hoses to draw out the standing water bound within the carpet fibers and subfloor padding. In the utility closet and under-stair storage spaces, we exposed the damp framing plates and initiated targeted structural drying. To address the elevated humidity and prevent secondary microbial growth on the exposed wood studs and drywall, we applied an EPA-approved antimicrobial biocide. Finally, we installed a commercial-grade LGR dehumidifier alongside high-velocity axial air movers to establish a aggressive drying envelope, pulling deep moisture out of both the concrete subfloor and the carpeted areas.
