What Happens During Mold Removal?

• Ventilation and Containment

  The most important step in the mold removal process is setting up the containment and ventilation. Mold is the result of moisture, so drying out the affected area is the first step. In order to make sure the disturbed mold spores don’t spread to another area of the home, the area is contained, and air filtration devices are used.

• Cleaning and Disinfection

  Step two is to clean and disinfect the location. Infected materials are disposed of, salvageable materials are disinfected, and technicians apply solutions that kill any remaining mold and prevent future mold growth.

• Find and Fix the Mold Source

  If the source of the mold issue is not discovered, the above efforts will all have been for nothing. Technicians address moisture and humidity issues and help the homeowner make the necessary changes. If the issue is something complicated, most companies will recommend a subcontractor to come in and fix it.

• Encapsulate the Mold

  Mold that hasn’t been removed from the area will be encapsulated by paint or a similar material. While this may seem like it’s just patching up the underlying issue, as long as the mold source is fixed, encapsulating the mold keeps it from spreading and infecting the surrounding area.
